About the Artist
BIOGRAPHY
After earning a degree in art, Timothy Yeaw who is a Los Angeles area native, pursued a commercial visual arts career culminating with his leadership of a west coast adverting agency for over 20 years. Literally moving away from the agency life in 2015 and captivated by the calm, untouched places still prevalent in the South East, he is now occupied by finding and painting atmospheric landscapes from a home base in Richmond Virginia. Working in his studio from sketches, photos and memory, Timothy’s primary interest is focused on expressing the living, moving, vibration of nature and the emotion of memory.
Timothy's work has been shown at several gallery locations in Virginia as well as Hilton Head and Bluffton South Carolina, including a solo show titled "Veiled Glory" in 2019.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"I make peaceful pictures, but beyond the making with my hands, I'm trying to make peace with a culture in constant conflict. Perhaps we have simply taken our eyes off beauty. Not looking to a backwards nostalgia or sentimentality, but forward with renewed eyes. Forward to the promise of what could have been.
I've been greatly influenced by the masters of the late nineteenth century, Turner, Inness, Whistler, Twachtman and others, who IMO painted emotionally stunning landscapes with a modern intent–finding beauty in the paint itself and transcendence beyond the subject."
